Becoming an Individual User
You can access your patients’ medical histories, as well as our reporting platform,r through the Bronx RHIO Portal, also known as the Virtual Health Record (VHR).
Before you can do that, you need to be registered and trained as an Authorized User.
Wsho Can Be a Bronx RHIO Authorized User?
Use of the Bronx RHIO is available to authorized staff of our member organizations. Each organization determines who on its staff has a need to access patient health information (PHI) with a User Account.
Registering an Authorized User
The steps for requesting and receiving Authorized User credentials are:
The User Request Form (and User Request Spreadsheet, when multiple Users are being requested) should be printed, filled out, scanned, then emailed to UserSupport@bronxrhio.org.
The User will subsequently be sent an email with the link to sign up for Bronx RHIO training and the User Training materials.
After receiving the training, User will receive a confirmation of completion (Affirmation of Training).
User returns this signed Affirmation of Training to Bronx RHIO.
Bronx RHIO provides a username and temporary password to access the VHR. The User then creates their own permanent password on their first access.
New User sets up two-factor authentication to be used on the first login of each day.
a. Download the DUO Mobile App to your smartphone.
b. Set up Bronx RHIO authentication using instructions on VHR login screen.
c. Alternatively, set up two-factor authentication via phone call or SMS.
Once an Authorized User has a username and password, access to patient records is governed by consent rules.
The Bronx RHIO offers 3 different types of training
1) Authorized User Training
To become an Authorized User, a provider must be a member of a Bronx RHIO Participant Organization, complete training in the use of the RHIO System, and must comply with the policies and procedures governing that use. The Bronx RHIO can provide training to designated individuals at each member’s site or to designated individuals who in turn will train other users at each site. Alternately, training is available via the web for self-paced learning, as more fully described in the Bronx RHIO Policies and Procedures on training.
2) Consent Training
Before any Authorized User can access patient data through the VHR, your organization must have a documented affirmative consent for that patient. We offer training specific to the individuals at your organization whose job it will be to obtain and log these consents. The Bronx RHIO often proactively reaches out to member organizations to offer this training in addition to regular Authorized User training.
3) Report Training
Report Training is needed if you will be accessing any analytic reports through the Bronx RHIO.
If you are already an Authorized User, but do not yet have access to the reporting platform, you will require an additional short training and an adjustment to your Authorized User registration. To request Report Training, contact UserSupport@bronxrhio.org.
